Vancouver Raises Sales Tax for Police and Public Defense

Vancouver City Council voted 6-1 to raise the sales tax one-tenth of 1 percent for criminal justice purposes, including hiring more officers and addressing a public defender shortage that led to the dismissal of more than 50 cases.
