Dawn of the Dead (78'/'04) - A Copy of A Copy Ep. 210

Ray and Rob are keeping the Halloween spirit alive on this month’s A COPY OF A COPY by doing something Rob is VERY excited about. They’re watching his favorite zombie movie of all time, George A. Romero’s 1978 classic, DAWN OF THE DEAD! As well as Zack Snyder’s 2004 remake starring Sarah Polley (WOMEN TALKING, TAKE THIS WALTZ) and Ving Rhames (PULP FICTION, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE), which he is less of a fan of. However, both movies revolve around a group of zombie survivors who find refuge in the local mall as they try to figure out their plan to escape impending doom. Romero’s original is a searing take of capitalism as it exposes the comforts we will settle for while the world burns. The remake centers less on this and instead relies heavily on the horror filmmaking tropes of the time to create a fast-paced thrill ride. Also, RAY HATES HORROR MOVIES! It’s a commonly known fact, so it’s always fun for Rob to force him to watch one. But how will these two movies stack up? Tune in to find out!
