Alex Murdaugh's attorney told a judge his client passed a polygraph with flying colors. The truth: Murdaugh failed it, and the test covered financial crimes — never the deaths of Maggie and Paul. No polygraph about the murders ever took place. The judge set the record straight in open court and told Harpootlian that candor is not optional. The same hearing exposed a pattern of massive evidence dumps before the original trial, including 73 gigabytes dropped three days before jury selection. A SLED ballistics expert had testified he'd never seen .300 Blackout rounds in a murder case — contradicted by the agency's own records showing those cartridges logged routinely. The judge ordered both sides to stop the back-and-forth. Murdaugh has pleaded not guilty. His April retrial will be in Sumter County.
