Your Past Is A Lie: The 'Last Thursday' Theory That Breaks Reality

Stop. Look at your hands. How do you know they were there five minutes ago?

Sure, you remember having breakfast this morning. You remember your first kiss. You remember clicking on this podcast. But what if those memories were implanted in your brain the exact moment you hit play?

Welcome to the rabbit hole of Last Thursdayism—the ultimate philosophical troll that suggests the entire universe, including your memories, fossils, and the light from distant stars, was created Last Thursday (or five minutes ago) with the appearance of age.

In this mind-bending episode, we aren’t just asking "what if." We are tearing apart the fabric of reality to explore:

• The Omphalos Hypothesis: Did a divine creator fake the geological history of the Earth?
• The Nightmare of Logic: Why Scientific Realism and Bayesian Logic struggle to prove this theory wrong (even if it sounds crazy).
• The Existential Dread: Are you a real person, or just a Boltzmann Brain floating in a void, hallucinating your entire life?
• Simulation Theory: Why Elon Musk might be right, and why your life might just be a complex line of code.

We explore the terrifying tension between Creationism and scientific Uniformitarianism, questioning everything from carbon dating to the trustworthiness of your own mind. It’s a clash of faith, physics, and skepticism that forces us to ask: Is our belief in the past a fact, or just a convenient leap of faith?

Warning: This episode may cause an existential crisis. We cannot prove this podcast existed before you started reading this sentence.
