In September 1964, a bow hunter named Donald Shrum became separated from his companions in the rugged Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California. Forced to spend the night in a tree, Shrum claimed he witnessed a massive, silent, cigar-shaped UFO hovering above the forest, followed by the appearance of strange humanoid figures and mechanical beings with glowing eyes. What followed was an alleged nightlong confrontation in which Shrum attempted to defend himself with his hunting bow as the mysterious visitors reportedly tried to force him from his refuge. More than six decades later, the extraordinary incident near Cisco Grove remains one of the strangest close-encounter reports in UFO history.
