On Good Morning Portugal, Karl chats with Lily and Josh and welcomes Mira from Ukulele Portugal/Coimbra Ukulele Social Club to discuss the growing nationwide ukulele network, sparked when traveller Patrick Vosen connected groups in Coimbra, Porto, and Lisbon and helped them start visiting each other’s park meetups and events.

Mira also shares the instrument’s Portuguese roots via the braguinha and notes the cavaquinho’s popularity in Portugal.

Lily outlines the São Martinho do Porto Ukes festival on September 5, 2026, featuring a free beginner workshop with ukuleles provided by APC, an open mic, vendors, and an evening auditorium gathering with group performances and a mass jam, with limited seating managed via registration and food purchase.

Josh explains why ukulele is portable and easy to learn and gives a quick C-chord lesson.
