The "Lost" Gospel of Thomas: Truth, Gnosticism, or Spiritual Counterfeit?

What is the Gospel of Thomas really? Some claim it is a suppressed book of the Bible. Others call it a Gnostic distortion of the teachings of Jesus. In this episode of Broadcasting Seeds, Bennett Tanton takes a careful look at the Gospel of Thomas and cross-references its major themes with the Jesus of the Bible. The Gospel of Thomas contains 114 sayings attributed to Jesus, but unlike Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, it does not give us the crucifixion, resurrection, or full Gospel message. Instead, it leans heavily into hidden sayings, secret interpretation, and mystical knowledge. So is Thomas a lost treasure? Or is it an ancient example of spiritual deception dressed in biblical language? This episode explores the Gospel of Thomas, Gnosticism, the missing cross, the real Jesus of Scripture, and why discernment matters now more than ever.
