Origins of The Occult, Essenes, Enoch, & The Gnostics w/ Nelly Van Sickle

The realm of the dead, the rise of ritual and wizardry, the evil spirits that roam the earth: Where did the occult begin, and how did forbidden knowledge find its way back into the world after the Flood?

Along side the occult, religious groups like the Essenes emerged, but how do we know they weren't gnostic and occult influenced? In addition, What texts offer up the best clues and parallel the Biblical account?

Pastor and researcher, Nelly Van Sickle returns for a deep dive into ancient sorcery, rebellious heavenly beings, and the spiritual forces behind the gods of the ancient world.

And of course we also tackle a claim making the rounds online: Were the Essenes Gnostics, and does that make the Book of Enoch a Gnostic text? Drawing on Josephus, Philo, and Pliny the Elder, we examine what ancient writers actually said about this mysterious community and question the connections often repeated as fact.

From Pharaoh’s magicians to the Watchers of Genesis 6, we explore the biblical accounts and ancient traditions connecting supernatural power with humanity’s pursuit of hidden knowledge. Oh, and a spiritual conflict that, according to tradition, never ended with the Flood. This one goes deep!
