RNF # 99: Concrete Slabs, Stairs, 4th Dimension Madness and Hidden Maps: Minecraft’s Latest

In this episode of Realm News Flash, the Dark Lord is joined by Mint to discuss the latest Minecraft drop, which introduces long-awaited concrete slabs and stairs, along with new maps found in abandoned camps. They cover players’ reactions to the 32 new concrete block variants and how these additions fit—or don’t—with the dappled forest theme. The conversation dives into map functionality, including their ability to guide players to structures like abandoned camps, Woodland Mansions, and even Ancient Cities, as well as improvements to textures and Bedrock-Java parity. The hosts share opinions on biome placement challenges, speculate on future updates like the long-requested End update versus the rumored “fourth dimension,” and highlight the return of the Smith Summit, a two-week in-game convention for data pack and map creators. The episode wraps with thoughts on 2026’s updates, Minecraft Live in September, and excitement for what’s coming next.
