Twenty-Two Yards: Flags, Misses, and a Walk-Off Loss in Detroit
The Lions beat the Packers 20-17 on a Jake Bates field goal as time expired, and Cal Hutson is still staring at a cold cup of coffee. He walks through how it slipped away: a late offside penalty on third down, eight Packers penalties, two missed field goals, and just seven points on four red zone trips. Then the good news. Josh Jacobs made his season debut with a 25-yard touchdown. Isaiah McDuffie forced one fumble and recovered another filling in for Zaire Franklin. Keisean Nixon made a huge fourth-down stop, and rookie Brandon Cisse kept making plays. Cal also covers the injuries to both centers, Sean Rhyan and Jacob Monk, the odd NFC North standings, and why a Thursday night game against Carolina is exactly what this team needs.
