Strange Beauty, The Badgers Looked Right at Home in Green Bay
What's going on, everybody. I'm your host, Cal Hutson on the Packernet Podcast Network, and if you're listening to this right now there's a pretty good chance you're either sitting in a parking lot outside Lambeau, stuck in traffic trying to get there, or already inside watching college kids run around on the frozen tundra like they own the place.
It's Sunday, September 6th, and for one night only Lambeau Field belongs to the Wisconsin Badgers and Notre Dame. The Shamrock Series is in town, and the sight of those two teams warming up in our house is equal parts cool and deeply confusing.
I mean, look around. The seats that normally hold cheeseheads in green and gold are suddenly full of red and gold and navy. The same tunnels the Packers walk through every Sunday are now being used by 19-year-olds who still have homework. And the same field that has seen Bart Starr, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, and Jordan Love is about to host a bunch of kids who were probably in high school the last time the Packers made a deep playoff run.
