How One Messy Opener Made Me Believe in Green Bay Again
What's up, Cheeseheads. Cal Hutson here from Packernet, and welcome back to another episode where we try to process the NFL while simultaneously stressing about our own team.
It's early Thursday morning, the season has officially started, and the first game is in the books. Seahawks 13, Patriots 10. A Super Bowl rematch that somehow managed to be both dramatic and completely ugly at the same time.
Sam Darnold goes down with a hip injury on the very first drive. Drew Lock — yes, that Drew Lock — comes in and somehow engineers a comeback. Drake Maye throws three interceptions in the fourth quarter like he's trying to set a personal record. A.J. Brown limps off with an ankle injury. And the defending champs escape with a three-point win in front of a home crowd that went from celebrating a banner to holding its collective breath.
