Camp Opens: Packers Operating Loss Explained, PUP List, and Owners Meeting

The dead season is officially over — training camp has arrived, and Ryan's back with plenty to unpack. He breaks down the Packers' reported $1.1 million operating loss and explains why the real story ($132.5 million in net income, up 54.8%) tells a very different picture than the sky-is-falling narrative being pushed by Florio and others. Ryan contextualizes the expense spike with the Micah Parsons signing and the Kenny Clark write-off, pushes back on Ed Policy's repeated alarm-ringing, and comes away cautiously optimistic about the franchise's financial path forward.

- Packers' operating loss vs. net income: $753M revenue, $754.1M in people expenses, but $132.5M net income once investment gains and the NFL/ESPN media deal are factored in - Why the Micah Parsons signing ($44M bonus, $136M guaranteed) and Kenny Clark's accelerated cap charge drove the 18.7% expense spike — a one-time hit, not a trend - Ed Policy's repeated financial warnings: strategic pressure on the NFL or genuine alarm? Ryan argues it's the former, and Policy's refusal to sell Lambeau naming rights backs that up - NFL Owners Meeting recap: Bob Harlan's name goes on the northeast facade at halftime of the Oct. 29 Panthers game; LaFleur, Gutekunst, and Russ Ball extensions confirmed - PUP list breakdown: Tucker Kraft, Aaron Banks, Kamal Haddon, Javan Hargrave, Luke Musgrave placed on PUP; RB Chris Brooks on NFI; plus a full rundown of PUP rules and the new 2026 reserve PUP practice window - Breaking non-Packers news: Eric Bieniemy's wife Mia shot at their Virginia home by the couple's son; Ryan covers the story with appropriate gravity
