How Do I Spot a Counterfeit Version of the Truth? | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Today I share part two of a short series on counterfeit oil and a lesson the Lord taught me while I was in Italy. We talk about how the enemy tempts us to settle for a version of the truth that looks close but is not the real thing. My hope is that you walk away holding on to the true gospel with both hands. Questions this episode answers What is a counterfeit gospel? A counterfeit gospel is any message that looks like the good news but changes it. It might add rules to grace or leave out sin, repentance, or the cross. Paul warned the Galatians about this very thing in Galatians 1:6-9. How can I tell real truth from a counterfeit? Get to know the real thing well. The more time you spend in God's Word, the easier it is to notice when something is off. Test what you hear against Scripture, like the Bereans did in Acts 17:11. Why does the enemy offer counterfeits instead of obvious lies? From the garden on, the enemy has twisted God's words more often than he has denied them outright. A near truth is easier to accept than a clear lie, so it can pull us away from Jesus slowly.
