US President’s Historic Ireland Visit | Global News

The US president’s historic visit to Ireland kicks off one of the biggest security operations ever mounted by An Garda Síochána, with 10,000 officers on twelve-hour shifts from Friday to Sunday. Landing Saturday morning in Dublin, he’ll spend two days touring Phoenix Park, meeting Irish leaders, delivering a speech at the US Ambassador’s residence, and playing golf at his private course in County Clare. Expect massive disruptions: Phoenix Park and Dublin Zoo will be closed, roads will be shut down around the airport and M50, flights and drones banned near key sites, and even waters off Wicklow will be off-limits. Access to the golf course and Doonbeg village is restricted, protest groups are expected, and attendees must use park-and-ride with airport-style security. Travelers—especially in Dublin and Clare—should plan ahead and allow extra time for everything.
