Daughter of Mafia Witness Dies | Global News

Denise Cosco, the daughter of murdered mafia witness Lea Garofalo, has died at 35 — a devastating blow to anti-mafia advocates who see her life as a tragic echo of the Ndrangheta’s grip. Once shielded under state protection and forced to testify against her father, Denise struggled with trauma, even reconnecting with him in prison. Her death, now under investigation for possible suicide incitement, symbolizes how organized crime haunts survivors long after the violence ends. Friends plan a memorial to honor her courage — and to demand better support systems for those breaking free from mafia legacies.
