Cunningham on WNBA’s Future Leader | Global News

Sophie Cunningham sat down with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to discuss the future of the WNBA, sharing her insights on what leadership looks like for the league’s next commissioner. She praised Silver’s wisdom and confidence in his ability to find a successor who can elevate the WNBA even higher—especially as the league thrives right now. Cunningham emphasized the need for a unifier who can bring together diverse voices while honoring the WNBA’s core mission of safety and inclusion for all athletes. She also stressed that the next commissioner must prioritize player well-being, advocate for smart scheduling decisions, and foster open, respectful communication—even amid tough calls for owners. For Cunningham, a player-first approach is non-negotiable, and she remains steadfast in her commitment to the league’s growth. Meanwhile, the Indiana Fever gear up for their return to action, with stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston set to rejoin the team after international duty.
