Congressman Swims to Safety After Plane Crash | Global News

Congressman Tom Tiffany survived a harrowing emergency landing on Lake Wausau after his small plane suffered a mechanical failure during a routine return from dinner. With only him and the pilot aboard, they swam to shore after the single-engine aircraft lost power and sank. Tiffany recounted the terrifying moment, praising the rescue crews and reflecting on life’s fragility — even sustaining a minor eye cut. Authorities are now investigating the cause, while teams work to recover the plane. A sobering reminder that even everyday travel can turn perilous in an instant.
