Red Bandana Game Returns with Tribute | Boston College Football News

Boston College takes on Rutgers in a deeply emotional and historic showdown, honoring Welles Crowther—the “Man in the Red Bandana”—whose heroic sacrifice on 9/11 continues to inspire. This 13th annual Red Bandana game, featuring special uniforms and helmets, celebrates his legacy as a BC alum, firefighter, and lacrosse player who gave his life saving others. With both teams at 0-1 and a thrilling underdog vibe echoing from last year’s upset of 1 USC, the electric atmosphere is amplified by New Jersey’s ties to NYC, where Welles lived and worked. More than just a game—it’s a tribute that unites fans, alumni, and the community in remembrance and pride.
