On 12 January 2024, Christopher Stockton called for an ambulance to a home in Darlington, County Durham. Charlie, who was not yet two years old, had been left in his care. Stockton told paramedics that the little boy had choked on a biscuit. But they found no obstruction in his airway, and the medical evidence did not support Stockton’s explanation.
