About
Born: August 22, 1963 in Newton
Meet the classically trained pianist with a powerful mezzo-soprano voice, who began performing in Washington D.C. bars by her teenage years. This American singer-songwriter rose to fame as the lead of short-lived 80s pop-rock group Y Kant Tori Read, before striking out on her own in the early 90s to become a trailblazing solo artist. With a bold voice and unapologetic songwriting style, she tackles topics from feminism and politics to religion and intimacy.
