This Iowa city, once known as the seed and nursery center of the world, has a rich musical heritage thanks to its early live radio stations. Home to Earl May Seed Company and legendary radio station KMA, founded by Earl E. May, it provided a launching pad for iconic performers like The Everly Brothers and Charlie Haden. With a population of nearly 5,000, Shenandoah's history is deeply intertwined with American music and broadcasting.
