The Prayer of a Righteous Man
How should the people of God respond when they see the wickedness of the world around them? In Genesis 18:16–33, God reveals His coming judgment upon Sodom and Gomorrah, and Abraham draws near to intercede. His prayer rests upon the righteous character of God: "Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?" Through Abraham's conversation with the Lord, we see the justice, patience, and mercy of God—and what it means for God's people to pray in a world facing judgment. Rather than merely condemning the darkness around us, Christians are called to intercede, to desire that more would believe, and to faithfully make the appeal of Christ to the lost.
