About
From: United States
Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, this iconic traditional black gospel music group was formed in 1960 by Leon "Pop" Williams, bringing together three brothers - Doug, Leonard, and Melvin Williams - along with their cousin Henry Green and a non-family member Maurice Surrell. Over the years, the group's lineup evolved to include several talented musicians, resulting in a remarkable 42 album releases and 23 chart-topping albums on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. With five Grammy nominations and an induction into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999, this legendary ensemble has left an indelible mark on the gospel music landscape.
