About
This iconic vocal group was a cornerstone of 1970s Philadelphia soul, blending genres like soul, R&B, doo-wop, and disco to create a unique sound that captivated audiences. Formed in Philadelphia in the 1950s as The Charlemagnes, the group went on to achieve massive success on the Philadelphia International label between 1972 and 1976, thanks in large part to the powerful vocals of lead singer Teddy Pendergrass. Despite the passing of time, the Blue Notes' legacy lives on through their enduring music and periodic reunions.
