About
Born: January 1, 1971 in Honduras
This Honduran music sensation was born in 1971 as a rock band, but it wasn't long before they incorporated the infectious rhythms of merengue and punta rock into their sound. Their breakthrough came in 1990 with the chart-topping hit Sopa de Caracol, which catapulted them to international stardom and sold an estimated 1.5 million copies in the US alone. With a career spanning decades, Banda Blanca has achieved impressive sales of between two and five million records worldwide.
