Born: January 1, 1959 in United States Died: January 1, 1972

Formed in 1959 in El Cerrito, California, this iconic American rock band spent over a decade crafting a unique sound that blended folk, blues, and country elements. Led by the incomparable John Fogerty on vocals and guitar, the group consisted of his brother Tom on rhythm guitar, Stu Cook on bass, and Doug Clifford on drums, who had all been playing together since the early days as the Blue Velvets and Golliwogs. Their most successful period, from 1969 to 1971, saw 14 consecutive top-10 singles and five consecutive top-10 albums in the US, cementing their status as one of the most influential bands of the era.
