Lanterns S1E01

Jason Concepción and Rosie Knight recap the pilot episode of HBO's Lanterns. They break down John Stewart's abusive-if-you-squint origin story, Hal Jordan recruiting him as backup decades later, and the AI plot twist on the ring lore. From there it's a trip to Rushville, Nebraska, a mass shooting cold open, a suspiciously well-informed alien suspect, and dinner with a militia-adjacent ranching family that's clearly hiding something. They also dig into their competing theories about Green Lantern Corps corruption, debate whether the show has "HBO juice" or feels more like a CW-era DC property, and weigh in on Aaron Pierre's performance as John Stewart.
