ADVENT OF EVIL: Friday, December 12 – The Runaway Returns

The sequence has been revealed. YES. L. M. 2. 3. What Matthew and his brother Steven unleashed with a spirit board thirty years ago left its fingerprints on the calendar's tenth door — a message hidden in plain sight, waiting for him to finally understand. Now the calendar has made its intentions unmistakable. A small cloth flag bearing the colors of Bayville, New York emerged from door eleven. Maroon. White. Mustard-yellow. A sun rising over hills. The emblem of a town Matthew fled as a ten-year-old boy, his family's screams still echoing in his ears as flames devoured everything he knew.He hasn't been back since. Hasn't spoken the name aloud in decades. The Kleins — his foster parents — gave him a new identity, a new life, a chance to bury the nightmare beneath thirty years of carefully constructed normalcy. But the calendar has been methodically excavating that grave since December first, and now it demands he return to where the bones are buried.Pastor Hart won't answer his calls. Detective Davenport watches him like a hawk circling wounded prey. His badge and gun sit in Lieutenant Sears' office, stripped away along with any authority he once had. The only person left standing beside him is Anika, and even she cannot follow where the calendar is pointing.Bayville awaits. The charred remains of his childhood home. The memories of a brother whose spirit now walks through Marshport, trailing ash and ember, whispering secrets to anyone who will listen. The truth about what crawled out of that spirit board on Christmas Eve, 1995.Thirteen doors remain sealed. Thirteen days until Christmas. Matthew Klein is going home. But the boy who ran from those flames died in them too — and whatever emerges from Bayville may not be the same man who entered.
