The Lady in the Germ Box | A Summer-Camp Monster Grants Dangerous Wishes

A summer-camp bully locks Greg in a portable toilet—and something underneath answers his complaints in Killian Crane’s “The Lady in the Germ Box.” The blue-skinned visitor calls herself the Lady of the Lake and offers to improve his miserable stay. Greg wants his tormentor gone, a starring role in the camp play and the attention of a girl who barely notices him. Wish-granting folklore takes a grotesque turn in this camp horror story. The Lady listens carefully to every word, but does she understand what Greg means—or only what he asks for?
