The Dead Thing Under the House | A Crawlspace Corpse and Moroi Horror
A reclusive neighbor asks for help removing a corpse in David O’Hanlon’s “The Dead Thing Under the House.” Blake has spent his life wondering about Old Man Jennings and the barred house across the street. Now the man called Harp wants him to crawl beneath it, where a grisly discovery points toward a supernatural feud. Harp calls the enemy a moroi; Blake would prefer an explanation that does not involve soul-eating creatures. This small-town monster story combines claustrophobic dread, dark humor and an unlikely friendship. Some visitors cannot be kept out by locking the doors.
