Terrifying & True | The Wendigo — Indigenous Folklore of Hunger, Greed, and Cannibalism

From Weekly Spooky: Scary Christmas Stories | Terrifying Tales to Creep Your Holiday Henrique Couto | Scary Stories & Horror Expert

The Wendigo is more than a monster in the woods. Terrifying & True explores the hunger, greed and fear of cannibalism surrounding this being in distinct Algonquian traditions, including Ojibwe and Cree accounts. From teachings discussed by Basil H. Johnston to the notorious Swift Runner case, the episode examines how folklore, colonial interpretation and modern horror have shaped very different versions of the legend. What gets lost when a warning about consuming others becomes just another creature feature? Narrated by Henrique Couto.
