Squirrels | Something Is Watching from the Empty House

Squirrels watch a jogger from the windows of a dead neighbor’s empty house in Douglas Waltz’s “Squirrels.” Each morning there are more, staring silently as he passes along Marigold Street. His realtor friend does not return his calls, the sale sign disappears, and an unfamiliar old man insists there is no infestation. When the animals suddenly vanish and the front door stands open, curiosity draws the runner closer. This suburban creature-horror story makes an ordinary route feel wrong, one window at a time.
