Reaper Requisitions | A Grim Reaper Trains the Wrong Intern

Retirement is almost within reach for Reaper 7142 in Christopher Dowell’s “Reaper Requisitions.” After an eternity collecting souls, a veteran reaper hopes an intern can take over the route. The trainee has little patience for grief, procedure or the people making their final transition. In this afterlife bureaucracy, a careless collection can create a banshee—and management still expects the paperwork. Supernatural workplace comedy meets a story about compassion and burnout. Training a replacement may take more out of 7142 than another lifetime on the job.
