Hysterhysteria | A Woman Wakes in a Dark Clinic with Something Calling Her Mother
Something moves across the broken glass in Joe Solmo’s “Hysterhysteria.” Alicia wakes in darkness with a wound across her abdomen and no memory of how she arrived. Lightning reveals the wreckage of a doctor’s office, but the small figure nearby is harder to explain. It knows her face, calls her mother and wants her attention. This psychological body-horror story traps a frightened woman between fractured memories and an impossible demand for care. Each flash shows her a little more of the room. The intervals of darkness give her visitor time to move.
