Heart of Fire, Heart of Stone | A School Bully and Elemental Magic

A school bully’s anger burns with something more than cruelty in Joe Solmo’s “Heart of Fire, Heart of Stone.” Cody dreads his daily encounters with Aiden Fitzgerald until his stepsister Abby spots signs of an older power behind the abuse. An ancient book offers a way to understand the forces of fire, earth, water and air—and perhaps change the balance between the boys. This supernatural coming-of-age story brings elemental magic into a familiar schoolyard struggle. Can Cody find the strength to stand his ground without letting anger decide who he becomes?
