Swalwell Announces CA Governor Bid, Challenging Trump

Congressman Eric Swalwell, a Democrat from California, announced his gubernatorial bid on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, positioning himself as a protector and fighter against former President Trump. He joins a crowded field of candidates, including state schools chief Tony Thurmond, former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and former Congresswoman Katie Porter. On the Republican side, candidates like Steve Hilton and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco have also entered the race. Swalwells announcement highlights his ongoing public disagreements with Trump, who recently criticized Kimmel on social media. Swalwell used his appearance to criticize federal actions he believes threaten Californians. Political analysts suggest that Swalwell will need to offer more than just an anti-Trump message to stand out in a field where many Democrats share similar views. The Daily News Now! - Every city.
