Space Force Awards Missile Defense Contracts

The Space Force has secretly awarded initial contracts for a new missile defense system, with Northrop Grumman and Anduril receiving ten million dollar deals. These contracts aim to develop space-based interceptors and ground stations, potentially worth tens of billions in production contracts. The government is incentivizing rapid innovation with prize pools, offering up to one hundred twenty-five million dollars for successful on-orbit tests. Despite the significant investment required, this new approach marks a significant shift in missile defense strategy, aiming to protect against threats with advanced space-based capabilities.
