Sen. Britt Meets With Schumer as Shutdown Drags On

Senator Katie Britt from Alabama is leading the charge in the Senate's efforts to end the government shutdown, now in its 30th day. She's been actively engaging with both Democratic and Republican leaders, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, to discuss a package of funding bills and a stopgap measure. A key focus is the SNAP program, with Britt backing the Keep SNAP Funded Act to ensure food assistance for families. Despite ongoing negotiations, the Senate isn't set to return until Monday, leaving a narrow window to prevent disruptions and keep the government running. Lawmakers are cautiously optimistic about a deal, but time is running out. The Daily News Now! - Every city. Every story. AI Powered. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
