Rep. Omar Scolds Schumer for Snubbing NYC Mayoral Candidate Mamdani

Progressive Congresswoman Ilhan Omar criticizes Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for not endorsing Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist running for New York City mayor. Mamdani's bold platform, including freezing rent and boosting welfare programs, has gained attention and support from progressive stars like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. However, the Democratic Party is divided over Mamdani's candidacy, with moderates and conservatives expressing concerns about his policies' impact on the city's economy. Omar suggests Schumer's reluctance to support Mamdani may be linked to rising anti-Muslim attitudes, while Mamdani faces accusations of antisemitism. With Election Day approaching, the stakes are high, and Schumer's silence is drawing intense scrutiny. The Daily News Now! - Every city. Every story. AI Powered. Hosted on Acast.
