Pope Leo's Unconventional Mosque Visit

Pope Leo the Fourteenths visit to Istanbuls Blue Mosque focused on strengthening connections with Orthodox leaders, rather than personal prayer. Despite an invitation from an imam, the Pope did not pray, unlike previous popes. He also skipped a visit to Hagia Sophia. Instead, he met with Christian leaders and signed a joint declaration with Patriarch Bartholomew for Christian unity. His trip underscores his commitment to interfaith dialogue and Christian unity.
