Franklin the Turtle Used in Political Meme

Franklin the Turtle publisher, Kids Can Press, condemns War Secretary Pete Hegseths unauthorized use of their character in a military-themed meme, contradicting Franklins peaceful image. Hegseths post, featuring Franklin as a soldier, was criticized for its stark contrast to the characters usual kindness and empathy. This incident coincides with reports of Hegseths involvement in a follow-up strike, raising questions about the use of public figures, even fictional ones, in political messaging.
