Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national, is accused of shooting Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe and Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, both of whom are in critical condition. Electronic devices were seized during searches in Washington state and San Diego, and the firearm used in the shooting is being analyzed at the Quantico laboratory. Lakanwal entered the U.S. through Operation Allies Welcome and was wounded during his capture. The FBI is following all leads, both domestically and internationally, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has suspended immigration processing for Afghan nationals in response to the incident.
