Loretta Young: A Pioneer for Women in Television

From February 2013: Ed welcomes Christopher and Linda Lewis, curator of the Loretta Young estate. Christopher's mom, Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning actress Loretta Young, was one of the first major motion picture stars to not only embrace television, but leave her mark on it, which she did as the star and producer of The Loretta Young Show. Topics this segment include how Young insisted on bringing motion picture production values to each episode of her series (making them high quality "mini movies") and how she was a hands-on producer at a time when TV production was mostly male-driven. About 100 episodes of The Loretta Young Show are available through Shout! Factory as part of the excellent 100th anniversary DVD box set.
