Ep. 17 - Learn to Love Your Triggers: Re-Mothering Yourself at 4 A.M.

We talk a lot about being triggered by what's going on around us. In this episode of Triggered, Whitney Kell turns the focus inward, to the triggers that happen inside of us, like the ones that show up when you can't sleep, get stuck in traffic, or feel that flash of frustration and don't know why.Whitney starts with her own night: she didn't fall asleep until 4 a.m. and had a podcast to record the next morning. Instead of resisting it, she sat with it, meditated, stretched, and asked herself what she needed. From there, she opens up a bigger question: what if you could learn to love your triggers, and the parts of yourself you've been trained to reject or shame? In this episode, Whitney talks about: Re-mothering and re-parenting yourself: what would you do for a child who couldn't sleep, and can you offer yourself the same care? A simple pause for the moment you're triggered: take a breath, go inside, and ask "Where do I feel this in my body?" and "What do I need right now?" Tracing a trigger back by asking "When was the first time I felt this?" and letting a memory or awareness come up Knowing your body and your patterns, and why self-awareness alone can change how you show up Why the top five relationships in your life tend to reflect your own well-being, and how choosing friends on purpose can matter when you don't have family close by How many of our triggers connect to childhood, and why looking back at how you were raised helps you understand them Breathwork, meditation, mirror work, and journaling as ways to move a trigger through your body Don Miguel Ruiz's The Four Agreements and the second agreement: don't take anything personally Replacing old thoughts with gratitude and asking what it feels like in your body to have everything you've dreamed of Whitney previews more on childhood triggers in the next episode.Ready to turn your triggers into truth?
