Happy Birthday Jesse Barfield and R.A. Dickey

Today, we're honoring three Blue Jays legends: Jesse Barfield, R.A. Dickey, and Dana Eveland, who all share a birthday. Barfield, a ninth-round draft pick in 1977, became a top player in franchise history, known for his exceptional defensive skills and powerful arm in right field. He led the AL in assists for three straight years and formed one of the best outfields of the 80s. Barfield's legacy continues to inspire fans, even as he engages with baseball today.R.A. Dickey, a Cy Young winner, joined the Blue Jays with high expectations but still managed to contribute solid numbers during his four seasons. He was known for his slow start followed by a strong finish, making him a memorable figure in Jays history.Lastly, Dana Eveland, with just nine starts and a high ERA, had a brief stint with the Jays but still managed to pitch in the majors for parts of eleven seasons. Today, we celebrate these three players who have shaped the story of baseball in Toronto over the decades. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network. Every city.
