Blue Jays Push for Playoff Spot | Toronto Blue Jays News

The Toronto Blue Jays are clinging to playoff hope, just one game behind the final wild card spot, despite a season battered by injuries. A tough blow came when rookie Rudy Martin Jr.—making his MLB debut after 12 years in the minors—was placed on the injured list, with his postseason chances now hanging in the balance. In his place, utility man Davis Schneider steps up, hitting well in the minors. The roster shuffle continues as Ricky Tiedemann is sent down and Brendan Cellucci joins the bullpen, a late-season juggling act the Jays handle with grit. On the bright side, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is heating up, batting over .300 in his last 15 games and launching his first home run at Rogers Centre. The bottom of the order is also delivering power, led by Kazuma Okamoto and Josh Smith. With a win over Detroit, Toronto can hit the 500-win mark—and if Cleveland loses, they could tie for the last wild card spot, holding the tiebreaker. The Jays’ fate is now in their own hands.
