Blue Jays Edge Closer to Playoffs | Toronto Blue Jays News

The Toronto Blue Jays are back to .500 after a crushing 8-1 win over the Orioles, now just one game behind the Guardians in the wild card race. With only 12 games left, they’re eyeing their second straight postseason — and could get a major boost soon: rehabbing starter Trey Yesavage might return as early as next Monday after missing time with a knee injury. Yesavage, a first-round pick who made his MLB debut last year, is pitching well despite setbacks, going 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA. But it’s been a rough season for Toronto’s rotation — key pitchers like Berrios, Francis, Ponce, Scherzer, Cease, Bieber, and Corbin have all missed significant time. The Jays open a crucial series against the Tigers on Monday night, with Jose Soriano (12-7, 3.48 ERA) facing Troy Melton (8-4, 2.42 ERA) at Rogers Centre.
