Jean Luc Brunel And The Lawsuit He Filed Against Jeffrey Epstein

In 2015, Jean-Luc Brunel and his modeling company, MC2 Model & Talent Miami, sued Jeffrey Epstein in Florida, claiming Epstein’s criminal scandal had devastated Brunel’s business and reputation. Brunel alleged that modeling agencies, scouts and other industry figures stopped working with MC2 because of the public association between Brunel and Epstein, costing him substantial revenue. The suit also alleged something more explosive: that Epstein had encouraged Brunel to avoid giving a deposition during the Palm Beach investigation, effectively telling him to stay out of reach while authorities were examining Epstein’s conduct. Brunel sought damages from Epstein for the financial harm he claimed resulted from the scandal and from being publicly linked to Epstein’s criminal activity.

The lawsuit was striking because Brunel portrayed himself as someone harmed by Epstein even though Brunel himself had long been accused of helping recruit young women and girls into Epstein’s orbit, allegations he denied. Epstein had financially supported MC2, and later litigation and banking records showed significant financial ties between Epstein and Brunel’s modeling operation. The case never produced a trial on the merits because it became bogged down in a dispute over whether Epstein had been properly served with the lawsuit. A Florida appellate court ultimately ruled that service was defective, preventing the case from moving forward in that form. The lawsuit nevertheless remains revealing because it showed the relationship between the two men deteriorating badly enough that Brunel was willing to accuse Epstein publicly of destroying his livelihood and interfering with his participation in the investigation that had exposed Epstein’s crimes.
