Vernon Maxwell GOES OFF on Celtics trading Jaylen Brown, Spurs Collapse vs. Knicks | 07.09

Bomani Jones is joined by Vernon “Mad Max” Maxwell for a long, funny, and extremely candid NBA conversation on this episode of The Right Time. Maxwell returns to the show to talk about his second act in sports media, how he still trains like a player, and why he believes some of the biggest storylines in the league are being misunderstood.

Bomani and Max dive deep into the Jalen Brown conversation, including why Maxwell remains so high on Brown as a player, why he thinks the criticism has gone too far, and what Brown could look like in Philadelphia alongside Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. They also get into what Boston may have gotten wrong, whether Jayson Tatum should have done more to keep Brown around, and why the Celtics’ decision still doesn’t sit right with Max.

The conversation also covers Hakeem Olajuwon’s one-of-one greatness, Giannis Antetokounmpo trade speculation involving the Miami Heat, LeBron James’ future after the Lakers, the appeal of a Jokic-LeBron fit in Denver, LaMelo Ball’s evolution, Jalen Brunson’s footwork and mentality, and why Victor Wembanyama could be on the verge of becoming the face of the NBA.
